The last Monday

in 2002, that is. It's been a pretty good year. We spent last new year's with friends, playing Euchre, being silly. The winter was pretty mild, as I remember. My 25th birthday (in April) was nice. I got my Grandma and her husband to enter a Japanese restaurant. They had teryaki pork, but gramma did try a bit of a California roll. Work was progressively interesting. My job duties changed slightly (and for the better) to be more of a geek. Which is just fine with me. We'll be working on getting me a permanent position in the coming month. At the end of May, Kurt asked me to marry him. Then followed a long string of celebrations, gifts, cards, hugs and planning. September 17th was the big day. At the end of September, we went to Vegas and had an excellent time (we even plan on going back for my b-day this year). I'd have to say, all in all, it's been a good one. Let's hope 2003 is even better.

a week of nothin' doin'

Kurt got me a Gameboy Advance for the hollydaze. I got him Grand Theft Auto: Vice City.. so we've been pretty occupied this week. But enough of Yoshi's Island; I want more games! Off to eBay I went. In search of those fun little games that I miss [Pitfall!, Dig Dug, Bomberman (TurboGrafx16 era)] and came away with Caesar's Palace (hooray for video poker!) and Bomberman Blue. Whatever that means. A follow-up to my jail-fan blog-post made earlier this month: He made a collect call to the house this morning, courtesy of the Dane Co Sheriff. I didn't accept the charges. I'm 'bout to get pissed though. Can't I tattle on him? I don't need to. A brief visit to the Wisconsin Circuit Court Access Program tells me that he's in jail for 3 counts of Driving or Operating a Vehicle w/o Consent, 1 count of Vehicle Operator Flee/Elude Officer, 2 counts of 1st-Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety, 1 count of Hit and Run, 1 count of Operating While Revoked, 2 counts of Possess Drug Paraphernalia and 1 count of Possession of Cocaine. This, a man who says he's "good", will not be bothering me in person for less than, or equal to, 10 years.

whoozat?

It's obvious that my work schedule has been deeply ingrained. I'm up and at 'em at the same time I always am. I wonder if my coffeemaker needs a break. Maybe I just need to break my coffeemaker. It was k-dog's birthday yesterday. She and A. came down to the bah for some drinkin'. Apparently Kurt's cosmo's are better than the ones at the Tornado room. I must remember to tell him. Then, after too many (not for the driver), we went to the Greenbush on Regent and had a delicious dinner. I think I had the best Caesar salad ever. The calimari was really good, too. You've probably seen this site, but the cartoons are worth lookin' at every once in a while.

Sorry

I had a little premenstrual craziness yesterday. I'm not really going to the co-op today at 3. Maybe 4, but that'll be for dinner (I /love/ the mediterranean orzo salad). I also don't own a brown shirt, so dressing up like an assh*le is almost impossible for me. Oh, and poo on the snow.

December 19, 2002

Where do they come from?

I wonder if I'm lucky enough for a certain neighborhood stranger to read /my/ blog every day! *blush* How so very cool that would be! Maybe I'll see him at the Co-op (*cuz i'm a member now*) tomorrow at 3pm *wink*. You know who you are. I'll be wearing all brown; so I look like you. Asshole.

dangit

Obviously this sleep problem (or lack thereof) is cyclical. Or maybe I'm just antsy for my vacation to start. I've been "saving up" things to do so I don't go crazy, or bring Kurt with me. I'll bet I'll forget all about what I was going to work on once Friday comes around. Get this for everyone for xmas. And look at this site at least once a month. I'm surely taking advantage of the free machine coffee at work today.

December 13, 2002

nothing too crazy

Except today was our xmas xchg at work. The idea here is we draw names, make a gift for under $10 or buy a gift for over $25 (!). Obviously it can become a little hectic for some, say, who don't have a ton of money, and aren't very creative. It all works out in the end though. I was going to take a picture of my gift, but I didn't get around to it in time. I'll have one from the department photographer by Monday, I'm sure.

stupid dumb white america

please tell me that i don't know anyone who would purchase this (link removed due to page not found) unless it was for a joke.

I've been diagnosed

by a friend at work. He says that I have OCD. I think he's right.

December 8, 2002

pretty cool day

I spent most of it searching fastidiously for a CD of various artists... one of which is featured on this site. This guy is a genious illustrator. I bow to people like him.
We also went out for bfast with Joe, Tooky, Blackie and his friend Peder (pronounced "petter"). Blackie was in town for the weekend to see Jim Rome, someone I'm not sure I would enjoy listening to. But, who knows.
Anyhow, I finally found the CD (and one other) on the German version of Amazon. I spent about 20 minutes going back and forth from amazon.de and my trusty Babel Fish. I also had to use a currency calculator cuz who knows what the Euro is doing these days. It was cheaper for two CDs plus shipping than just one of them on the English version of Amazon. What's up with that?

Gibsonmania!

So, this criminal letter has prompted me to wonder why no one else with my last name has attempted to contact me for any good reason. I mean, I've never been offered a free guitar, or a free cd, or even a part in a movie with Mel! Maybe I should write all of them and say I want to be friends. I'm a good young gal!!

Strange letter

I received a letter in the mail yesterday. The return address was one that I didn't recognize, "M. Gibson 115 W. Dotty St Madison - Wisconsin 53703"
Here's what I got to read: Happy - Holiday Becky 12-2-02 Hey - what's up I meeT a person in This place - and They knew you!! I jusT wanT to be your friend I'm only here for a little while - Becky -- maybe we can geT to be friend only GoD bless you -- I need someone I can write to and open myself up -- I have no family at all Becky -- I losT Them (cry) -- Also -- I'm Black very nice in on P.O. Okay, first of all, you know he just pulled my name out of the phonebook, cuz that's how it's spelled in there. Second of all, just cuz we share the same surname doesn't make me a candidate for friendship.

...

Every title I thought of seemed too long for a title. There's a joke over here on this side of the world, that the copy writers in book development don't have much of an opportunity to write, so they write the longest book titles possible. I digress. I'm currently going through a transaction dispute with an auction that I "won" on eBay. The seller is making him/herself nearly impossible to contact, and I'm not sure they're even going to send me the merchandise. Half of this whole deal is my fault, but the other half is not. I've been relieved to find out that I am not the most unintelligent eBayer out there. On a very excellent note, I'm getting my hairs cut tonight. When she asks,"What are we doing today?" I will say, "Short and Sassy!".

Haircuts are fun!

But only when they work out 6 weeks later. Like my current one. I didn't even notice that I had passed the 6 week mark until yesterday. I have an appointment tomorrow at RZ&Company. I've been going there since 1995. It makes me feel old even though I'm not really. Anyhow, I'm in the mood for a slight, non-drastic, change of hairstyle. We'll have to see what I come up with in the next 28 hours.

Snow and Terrible Drivers

Why is it that we always forget how to drive in the crappiest of Wisconsin weather? And how come Pecatonica is /always/ delayed or shut down? Those kids must go to school until the middle of July to make up for all the snow days! On the other hand, I smiled the whole way to work because they're fairly understanding when it comes to commuting and the time that it takes. And hell, if I have to stay til 6 to make up the hour that I missed, then at least there'll be less people on the road. Who am I kidding? I'll probably try to sneak outta here at 4. :)
