i were a little japanese girl. "...newspaper ads warned phone users to avoid walking and writing emails at the same time."
as a result of messing things up, some of my archive links don't work right now. i'll get to that later. i'm awfully tired of typing.
yea, i accidentally deleted something very important to the functionality of my blog. anyhow, i lost almost all of the comments that you guys made.. i've spend the last 4 hours copying and pasting all my entries back into the database. that was fun.
and if you haven't looked
at it yet, the daily photo project is quite amusing.
nope, it's not.
1. How are you planning to spend the summer?
relaxin', chillin', knitting summery things, hanging out, refining my taste for a cold beer on a hot afternoon.
2. What was your first summer job?
a paper route that lasted 4 years.
3. If you could go anywhere this summer, where would you go?
i've always wanted to go to australia, but amsterdam is a close second.
4. What was your worst vacation ever?
i haven't been on enough vacations to have a bad one yet.
5. What was your best vacation ever?
my honeymoon. in vegas.
to not blog about my 8-5 for at least a week. last night was fun. i went down to the tavern with kurt and hung out with a wine slinger named pete. he helped me improve my pool for a little bit. time flew and i had to go home. for dinner i had a toasted slice of rye with goat cheese (chevre) and diced tomato. it was scrumptious. kurt and i are planning something for tonight with some frozen halibut. yea, i know, frozen fish sucks, but it's cheaper and we don't have to eat it the same night that we buy it.
i can't even take a 2 day vacation without coming back to 6,000 things that are "due right now". sometimes i wonder what would happen if i just said, "sorry. won't do it anymore. here's my 2 weeks." the problem with that is, the team of wonderful people with whom i work would be f*cked for a little while. they're not the problem here. the problem here is all the people that don't know anything about their own $80,000,000 a yr. website but expect miracles from a 7 person team. okay. that's quite enough about work. the vacation was really nice. it was nice to not have to get up, it was nice to gamble a bit. kurt took lots of pictures, so i'll have some to post, soon. since almost everyone on the boat was over 60, i got carded every single time we went on. the ferrets were pretty toasty when we got home, but they wouldn't stop playing since they'd been caged for 2 days. kurt's attempting to put the a/c in right now. we'll see how well that goes.
knowing that i have monday and tuesday off, i actually slept until 11:30 this morning. i haven't slept into the double digits since new year's day. it's almost 3p now and i'm still in my pj's. what a glorious life. :)
what day it is. hair? lame.
1. Is your hair naturally curly, wavy, or straight? Long or short?
wavy and naturally short.
2. How has your hair changed over your lifetime?
from booger green to turquiose, to purple blue and lime green, to orange. where it will stay.
3. How do your normally wear your hair?
on my head.
4. If you could change your hair this minute, what would it look like?
it would be shinier, shorter, and it would constantly emit a rose-like smell.
5. Ever had a hair disaster? What happened?
i don't really consider my hair having the possibility of being disasterous. it will grow back.
lived here before kurt and i. they decorated the place with pieces of paper with quotes on them, some stickers from one of my old friends' rave promotion company, some fancy, decorative stuff glued to backs of doors. i told them they could leave some of it up. so, this morning, after grabbing the sugar for my coffee, i noticed one that i hadn't before. it's been there for almost 2 years now without my stopping to read it: /believe nothing, no matter where you read it or who has said it, not even if i have said it, unless it agrees with your own reason and your own common sense./ - buddha
if you spend most of your waking hours in a building with multiple stalls, do you find that you always use the same one? or do you mix it up a bit? talk amongst y'selves...
this weird thing has been happening for the last month, intermittently. when i hear a particular noise, it feels like my left ear closes up and i get dizzy but only for the duration of the noise. noises that seem to affect me: certain cell phone rings, the menu 'beep' on kurt's car racing game, the fan on my boss' computer, certain people's voices, a loud noise amidst a quiet office. also, heat stroke and dehydration don't seem to help. watching the softball practice on sunday got to be very uncomfortable.
i've just spent the last half hour trying to google people with whom i went to high school. wtf is wrong with me?
I got this tattoo just near my 19th birthday. It's on my right calf. I still love it. (img code missing)
I will not play at tug o' war
I'd rather play at hug o' war,
Where everyone hugs Instead of tugs,
Where everyone giggles And rolls on the rug,
Where everyone kisses, And everyone grins,
And everyone cuddles, And everyone wins.

Was pretty good! Although, I spent most of Friday night and Saturday morning trying to reinstall the Sims+expansion packs 3 times. That's 9 CDs. Needless to say, my CD-ROM took a crap and my CD-R decided to stop working. I was up and at Best Buy before 10 on Saturday. Yesterday, Kurt and I went to breakfast with mom and George (surprisingly not as sore as we all thought they would be) at Barber's outside of Stoughton. It was pretty good. They know how to make a veggie omelete. Their bloody mary's ain't too shabby neither. Then, I watched softball practice for 2 hours and got sunburned all down my right side. I joke that I will have driver's tan on my left side so it'll all be evened out by the time summer is over.
mum and george got into a pretty bad car accident today. they were on hwy.51, almost stopped to make a left turn and the 79 year old guy behind them (hopefully going the speed limit: 55mph) didn't stop. subsequently, they were pushed into oncoming traffic and hit another car (trailing a boat) head-on. the boat flew over the car and up the front of mom's car. everyone was wearing seatbelts. everyone is okay. george sprained his ankle, though. he's gunna have a hard time not walking around.
on the way into work from the parking lot this morning, i told someone, "i'm not religious, but i am thanking god that it's friday."
1. What's one thing you've always wanted to do, but never have?
moved somewhere new.
2. When someone asks your opinion about a new haircut/outfit/etc, are you always honest?
usually.
3. Have you ever found out something about a friend and then wished you hadn't? What happened?
i don't think so..
4. If you could live in any fictional world (from a book/movie/game/etc.) which would it be and why?
the sims. they have it pretty darn easy. especially if you know the cheat codes. :)
5. What's one talent/skill you don't have but always wanted?
a photographic memory.
it's finally summer and panera has my favorite salad back on their menu. fresh mozzerella, tomato, and basil. some f*cker mixed grilled chicken in with the mozzerella and i didn't even have the stomach to pick them out. i threw it out and left. i also went and bought a pack of smokes.
i no longer <3 my job.
i changed the spelling of my name 3 years ago. actually, it's just a 'nick since my given birthname is rebecca. few get to call me that and expect a response. so, since i wanted to buy a domain, i knew www.becky.com was taken. i don't like how the word looks anyhow. with the "y" jutting down below the rest of the letters. www.bekee.com was available, so i bought it and started spelling my name "bekee" online, on paper, and outloud. it really didn't catch on quickly. mom still spells it the standard way. people at work spell it the way i want them to, but they're always capitalizing it. i think names look strange with a capital. Bekee looks weird; bekee looks correct. i forgot my cigarettes today. i'm going to see how long i can last without one.
was weird: i was walking around on a state street-ish road with shops and people. i stopped at an atm which was operated, not by electronics, but by anthony heald*. it worked like this; i put my card in the slot and he pulled it out the other side.. then i entered my pin, feeling the pang of forgetfulness that i always feel when i have to use my pin since i don't use atm's anymore what with the outrageous "fees", and after entering some strange amount like $287, he slipped the money through the appropriate slot along with my card. then, out of the receipt slot came even more money.. maybe another $200 or so. the people in line behind me where curiously upset that i had been favored. i walked away smiling. i got to the "end" of the street and saw a very interesting shop with glass shelves in the windows with lamps and clocks for sale. i entered to find the employee asleep on a very fancy, designer couch. she woke up and i said i was "just looking". i walked around to the back where the shoes were sold. i found some size 6 (not my size) orange puffy plastic shoes. she asked if she could help and i asked her to look in the back for 8 1/2s (my size) as i was searching through the small selection of other shoes. she came back with a remorseful look and said they did not have any. i tried on an 8 and it fit, only to find that it didn't have a partner to pair with. as i stood up to leave, i saw a shelf full of yarn. it was arranged fairly sloppily, but i still had to look closer. the colors were so beautiful and there was so much of it! eventually more employees came in and for some reason they all fell asleep on various couches throughout the store. i left a note saying "if you find the other size 8, give me a call." as i was writing the note at the counter, a short mexican man came in with two lottery tickets that hadn't been scratched off yet. he was holding his hand up with two fingers extended and said, "i'm drunk but i want more to drink." i said i didn't have any money for the lottery tickets. then i woke up. *even though boston public is regularly scheduled on monday nights, but i haven't watched it for about 3 weeks.
How about the red lights? When did we stop teaching children to cross at an appropriately marked crosswalk with lights that already make cars stop? Now they have to carry flags to tell motorists that they want to cross the street at an unmarked intersection? Lame. I'm all for pedestrian safety, don't get me wrong, but I'm not sure this is the best solution for our little town.
where does the time go? i had a pretty fun weekend. saturday night had a full-moon-feel to it, but i know that's not scheduled until june 14th. i got the produce bag done and gave it to mom since they go to the farmer's market more often than i do. i'm working on a hat for one of the mickey's softballers, and next up is a tam for the coach. i'm counting down the days til the 22nd. kurt and i are going to iowa to stay 2 nights at the miss marquette riverboat and casino. you see, we went to vegas for our honeymoon in september and he's been itching to play blackjack ever since. maybe this'll quiet him down. :)
i've been on the computer longer for one sitting today than i have since knitting started.
it's friday!
1. How many times have you truly been in love?
if memory serves, i'd say 3 times.
2. What was/is so great about the person you love(d) the most?
he puts up with me, and he gets my jokes; most of the time.
3. What qualities should a significant other have?
honesty, humility, patience, gumption, common sense, and a funny bone.
4. Have you ever broken someone's heart?
unfortunately, i've been the breaker of a handful of hearts.
5. If there was one thing you could teach people about love, what would it be?
that it's ever changing.
my arms and wrists hurt. i just got done power-cleaning the bathroom. i don't remember if i've ever cleaned the bathroom here (we moved in aug. 15, 2001). i suppose that's a testament to how much i don't like this place. i'm excited that the tub is white again, though. :)
got me to work this morning.
I don't walk around trying to be what I'm not / I don't waste my time trying to get what you got / I work at pleasin' me / Cause I can't please you and that's why I do what I do
this or that subject: animals
1. Cats or dogs?
i do like cats, but they make me all itchy and sneezy now. unless it's an outdoor male cat. those don't seem to bug me. but i like dogs. if they're clean.
2. Butterflies or birds?
birds are pretty cool to look at. butterflies are too fast to enjoy.
3. Horses or cows?
cows always look like they're having an okay time walking around in a field in the country. horses just look annoyed.
4. Turtles or snakes?
snakes. i've had 3 in my day and they seemed to be a little more receptive to communication than turtles.
5. Frogs or grasshoppers?
frogs. even though they pee on you when you pick them up, at least it's not that brown crap that grasshoppers squirt at you.
6. Lions or tigers?
i think lions are pretty cool.
7. Elephants or mice?
mice. they eat less.
8. Porcupines or aardvarks?
aardvarks. i don't have any ants but it'd probably still keep the house clean.
9. Unicorns or dragons?
i don't really care.
10. Thought-provoking question of the week: You live in a rather dumpy apartment. A friend offers you a chance to be a roommate at a new place s/he is moving into, but they don't allow pets. You have a pet. Do you find your pet a new home and take the new place, or do you keep your pet and stay put?
i do live in a dumpy apartment. but, i love my ferrets and if i can't have them with me, i will not live there.
I had a nice brunch on Sunday with a friend whom I haven't really been able to sit down and chat with for a while. He's moving out of the 'hood, and if current habits persist, he'll be joining a new crowd at a new drinking establishment and I'll never see him agian. I got lots of sun while sitting outside during softball practice. I also added about 7 inches to the produce shopping bag that I'm knitting. It's turning out very nicely, though I will be modifying the pattern so that it knits up more quickly. See you at the game at 9!
