i can't remember, right now, who picked my first name, but my middle name is that of my aunt on my dad's side.
4. Are there any names you really hate or love? What are they and why?
i'm not fond of gertrude or beatrice.
5. Is the analysis of your name at kabalarians.com accurate? How or how isn't it?
wow, reaching for question number 5... here's what kabalarians says about me: "Your name of Bekee has created a practical, responsible, stable nature, and you desire to direct the efforts of others rather than to take order or ask permission. You have a determined, self-reliant, capable nature and resent any interference, although in your desire to help you are inclined to become involved in the lives and decisions of other people. You like to make your own decisions and to be the master of your domain. You feel a limitation in your own expression when it is necessary to reach another through tact and understanding. Although you are honest and fair, a directness in speech is a source of much consternation to you, and you often regret what you say. You also have a tendency to worry. It causes you to be too serious, and interferes with happiness and relaxation that comes with naturalness of expression." i don't know that i resent anything. i do worry, but i'm not serious about it.

2. Your agent helped you when you were struggling. Now a large agency with powerful connections wants you. Do you dump your agent?
Can you rephrase the question?
3. The environmentally friendly laundry detergent costs two dollars more than the regular brand. Do you buy it?

friday

1. What did you have for breakfast this morning? If you didn't have breakfast, why not?
I don't eat breakfast during the week. Partly because I don't have time and partly because most easy-to-eat breakfasts are sweet (i.e., cereals, waffles, things with syrup) and I am not fond of sweet things.
2. What's your favorite cereal?
The last time I had cereal, which was forever ago since I also don't drink milk, was Cheerios.
3. How often do you eat out? Do you want that to change?
We eat out fairly regularly. This doesn't stop me from complaining about how spinach, garlic, onions and rice can cost a customer $8.95, but you know how it goes.
4. What do you plan on having for dinner tonight? Got a recipe for that?
Hmm. I'll probably have a poorman's grilled cheese.
5. What's your favorite restaurant? Why?
I really like TonTon. Though Kurt and I have been cheating on them by attending dinners at other Japanese restaurants, they'll always be my favorite. The prices are competative, the fish is cut nicely, the sake is great, and the people know me. Fer chrissakes, there's a picture of me behind the sushi bar holding a dragon roll. How famous am I? :)

this or that

I forgot to do this or that yesterday.
"While you were sleeping" is the theme:
1. Morning or night person?
Very night.
2. Heavy or light sleeper?
Reg'lar
3. Remember your dreams or not?
Yea, but sometimes they're so real that when I'm driving to work I have to think whether or not they actually happened.
4. Do you need a lot of sleep, or just a little?
I have a 3.5 hour sleep cycle. If I get more than 7 hours, I'm groggy and slow-to-start.
5. Do you need something like a nightlight or TV to sleep, or do you prefer complete darkness?
I don't like lights on, but I have to have the noise of a fan because of the loud 3rdshift downstairs music playing at 5am neighbor.
6. Flannel sheets or some other kind?
T-shirt sheets. Though, the bed never looks "made" with these kinds of sheets.
7. One pillow, or more?
At least 3, just in case.
8. Bedroom door opened or closed at night?
It depends. If I sleep in my room, it's open, if I sleep in Kurt's room, it's closed.
9. Wrap yourself into blankets like a cocoon, or just cover yourself with them?
Cover. I roll around too much to be wrapped.
10. Alarm clock: wake to music or buzzer?
If I sleep in my room, radio, if I sleep in Kurt's room, buzzer.

Saturday Scruples

These weekly affirmation things sure make for ease in content.
1. You suspect another parent at a co-op daycare of stealing $20 from your coat. This person is made treasurer. Do you alert the board?
"Alert" is too reactionary. If I could prove that my 20 spot was stolen by this person, I would have talked to someone about it prior to their move to treasurer, unless those two things happen simultaneously. I don't think I'd make a fuss, I'd just make people aware.
2. You're well-to-do. Your children, ages 24 and 26, ask you to settle part of their inheritance now. Do you?
No.
3. You've accepted a date to a movie when someone you really like asks you to a concert on the same night. Do you try to get out of the first date?
Perhaps, if there's enough time, the movie date could be rearranged. The concert date is obviously a little more permanent and fixed as they don't happen 60 times a week.

Friday Five

Again it's friday.
1. As a child, who was your favorite superhero/heroine? Why?
I used to want to eat spinach like Popeye. I ate it straight out of the can, but I could never get it to "fountain" into my mouth.. a fork had to be used. I didn't really have time for superheros when I was a child.
2. What was one thing you always wanted as a child but never got?
A pony! Not really though. I sometimes wanted a younger brother, but I've never disliked being an only child.
3. What's the furthest from home you've been?
I went with my mom to Seattle when I was 4.. I lost my slinky by dropping it off the fire escape of the apartment we were visiting. It was a sad day.
4. What's one thing you've always wanted to learn but haven't yet?
In Junior High, part of the Phy. Ed. curriculum was to go bowling for two weeks and score the games by hand. I never quite got it. Maybe because I was more interested in bowling.
5. What are your plans for the weekend?
That's kind of a cop-out question, don't you think?

saturday scruples

this is just juvenile enough to do.
1. Your brother is an activist. You suspect he may be involved in a series of bombings. Do you notify authorities?
well, being an only child with no knowledge of the strength of sibling connections, my first thought was to get my nosey business out of his "activism" and focus on more comforting things, like baking chicken pot pies.
2. A friend's spouse is coming on to you. Do you tell the friend?
hell yea! then we can have a threesome.
3. Your company's profits will double if you replace 22 long-time employees with new software. Do you?
i don't think so.. especially if i were included in that pool of 22. i'm not saying that i ain't no team player; i just like to play for the little guys.

January 24, 2003

i can't stop!

yup, it's friday.
1. What is one thing you don't like about your body?
i don't like that the tattoo on my boob of a little cartoon guy in a straight jacket is getting taller.
2. What are two things you love about your body?
that everything still functions as it should, and that i don't have an overabundance of hair in any weird places. (that was /hard/.)
3. What are three things you want to change about your home?
aside from the fact that we rent: get a bigger tub, would like more closets (i.e., utility closet, bathroom closet, anything to get the damn vaccuum out of my bedroom), and more kitchen counter space.
4. What are four books you want to read this year?
The art of looking sideways, Scumbler.. this is taking too long. (note to readers, i already own the two books that i mentioned.)
5. What are five promises you have kept to yourself?
i will continue to keep them to myself.

2. How many other jobs have you had and where?
i will not recount the year that i had 6 w2's to go through for my tax return. a paper route when i was 13, hardee's when i was 16, mostly phone jobs since then; telemarketing, sales, relay system for the hearing impaired, and now this place.
3. What do you like best about your job?
the team of people i work with
4. What do you like least about your job?
the team of people i work for
5. What is your dream job?
my 5 year goal (only 3 years ago) was to be freelancing from my kitchen island on a saturday morning with a steaming hot cup of coffee wearing a terrycloth robe. so far, i've got the coffee part.
